At Beyond Function, you will find an all-encompassing plan of care to meet the specific needs of your child. With years of experience in academic and neurological therapeutic intervention, your SLPs will collaborate to provide the best care and most functional goals to help your child thrive in communication.

SLPs at Beyond Function treat difficulties related to:

• Articulation disorders
• Attention/concentration skills
• Auditory comprehension/ auditory processing
• Cognitive communication
• Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
• Executive function
• Expressive language
• Feeding/feeding aversion
• Gestalt language acquisition
• Information processing
• Memory
• Phonological processing
• Problem-solving/reasoning
• Reading comprehension
• Social skills /interaction
• Word-finding and naming

When you arrive for your speech evaluation, you can expect:

• A parent/guardian interview to learn about your child and your child’s likes, dislikes, and needs
• A more formal evaluation of skill
• A play-based informal assessment of skill
• Discussion about functional goals and what you, as the parent, see as the most important goals for your child.

We will work with you to create a treatment plan that will encourage progress, provide strategies and functional tasks to carry over the skills and improve the overall quality of life for your child. We will also work with Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy to maintain a level of carryover and quality reinforcement of skills throughout your child’s therapy sessions.
