About Margarita Sweet
Margarita Sweet has been practicing as an occupational therapist since 1999. She recently moved to Kansas City with her husband and two teenage boys this Summer from the Washington, DC area. She grew up in Bogota, Colombia, and graduated from the Escuela Colombiana de Rehabilitación as an Occupational Therapist. She moved to the USA in 1999 and has worked in various school settings including Fairfax County Public Schools in Northern Virginia and Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (deaf school) as well as pediatric private practices. Both settings provided a plethora of opportunities to work with a variety of clients with challenging issues.
Margarita developed skills in the areas of handwriting, fine motor skills, and sensory processing issues. She has also received training in Reflex Integration, Floortime and Alert Programs. Margarita loves entering into a child’s world and guiding them to new skills and ways of interacting with their environment for increased levels of participation and success. When not working, Margarita enjoys walking her dog “Coco”, traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Margarita also works at Kansas State School for the Deaf and is fluent in American Sign Language and Spanish.
